Rotary Trees
Our District has entered into an exciting partnership with the world renowned Pennsylvania Horticultural Society to plant trees in Heuser Park on the Schuylkill River West Trail in King of Prussia, PA on Earth Day April 22, 2018.
With a dominant canopy of Ash Trees affected by the Emerald Ash Borer, the site will be undergoing extensive tree removal this winter and will be in the need of a complete replanting. On October 1st District 7450 has launched a “Rotary Trees Fund Campaign” to raise funds through online donations, text to give platform, and via mail.
Our goal is $10,000.00.
There are two methods for individuals, clubs, and community sponsors to donate:
- Go directly online to:
https://phsonline.org/rotarytree - Make your check payable to:
“Pennsylvania Horticultural Society” and write “Rotary Trees” in memo line.
Mail to:
Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (Development Department)
100 North 20th Street, 5th Floor
Philadelphia, PA 19103.
Why does this matter?
Environmental degradation and global climate change are serious threats to everyone, President Ian Riseley said. “They are having a disproportionate impact on those who are most vulnerable, those to whom Rotary has the greatest responsibility.
Yet environmental issues rarely register on the Rotary agenda,” he said. This project gives us another opportunity to “Make a Difference”.
We hope we can count on your support and sending this information to other leaders in our communities as well to solicit their support for our very important initiative.
In the Spirit of Rotary,
Dr. Douglas F. Klepfer, Plant a Tree Chairman |
Dawn De Furia District 7450 Governor |
